Ginger Lemon Turmeric Morning Elixir 💥🍋

IMG_0956.jpeg

Most elixirs containing turmeric have this powerhouse orange spice added to warm beverages such as chai or latté type drinks. This one is different as it is more lemony, not milky. This spicy gingery drink with a turmeric punch is SO invigorating and enlivening, and really, really delicious. The turmeric flavor somehow shines through the other flavors and it packs a big punch. It might be a distinctly different turmeric experience than any you’ve had before, and beware, it might be addicting! Especially good when you’re feeling a bug coming on!

• small nub of fresh ginger (1-2 inches), grated and juice squeezed out (or if you are blending the ingredients, it’s fine to simply peel or scrape the ginger of rough dry peel and chop it roughly)
•  1 ½ teaspoons turmeric powder, turmeric extract powder, or homemade turmeric paste
• one or two grinds of black pepper
•  juice of 1 fresh lemon (or if blending, you could use up to 1 whole small Meyer lemon with seeds removed, chopped)
•  1 – 2 teaspoons coconut oil or MCT oil
•  1-3 teaspoons of raw honey, to taste
•  8 ounces hot water

Stir together all ingredients in a big mug, or blend all together in a Vitamix or similar. Check for sweetness. Relax and savor every sip, and have an amazing day! 🧡

And here’s another bonus recipe

Morning Sunshine with Turmeric and Gojis

This is my latest creation for morning smoothie bliss! I am in love with its beautiful rosy golden color! It feels very enlivening, a bit cleansing, and contains a healthy amount of turmeric for fighting inflammation and a host of other benefits. This is especially nice in wintertime to fend off all the nasty bugs that love to knock us down. Serves one.

½ - 1 cup fresh grapefruit juice, or part water or coconut water as you desire
1 small mandarin, peeled
2 tablespoons goji berries
1/2-1 tablespoons turmeric powder, or 1-2 inches fresh turmeric root
about 1 inch fresh ginger root, dried skin peeled off, or less or more as desired
1 tablespoon coconut oil

Blend everything in a high speed blender, taste, pucker, adjust if necessary and enjoy!

Also, instead of using grapefruit juice, coconut water is nice here for a less acidic and more sweet route. A half or whole frozen banana is also mighty nice in here.
